  • “I was fortunate to have Peggy as a guide on a SheJumps Fundraising Climb of the Grand Teton/Dae Wunt in Summer of 2023 through Jackson Hole Mountain Guides.

Moving with Peggy was great. It was fluid. I dubbed her Peggy the Perky Pacesetter. She kept a watch on us, the time, the weather, the gear. She explained parts in pieces and a whole as needed. We summited and celebrated and then had the long trip down in which she supported us through being tired and cold and navigated all the other groups on the mountain.

I think we all felt safe and supported in the challenges of the goal. In addition to the movement and mountaineering aspects the guides were also in charge of camp, food, teaching us wag bags, gear checks and fittings (not simple with most clients being men - larger on average) - and us all as women), etc.

Peggy herself was sharp, intelligent, clearly skilled in mountaineering and group dynamics and also is very creative and personable. Peggy talked to us about her art and small business management as well as her family and a plan to get them all up the Teton! At the end of the trip Peggy celebrated with the group over beers and pizza. She showed us she cared and aligned with the SheJumps mission to get girls and women in outdoor spaces with strong female leadership. I still look forward to more time with Peggy as an instructor or guide in the future.”

  • "I had the pleasure of being guided by Peggy on a Denali climb in 2022.

Peggy displayed exceptional climbing skills and leadership and brought humor and approachability to the team. She created a friendly and welcoming atmosphere where I always felt comfortable seeking guidance and asking questions. I would go on another climbing expedition with Peggy in a heartbeat. Her skills, personality, and dedication made the expedition a fantastic adventure.”

  • "I decided to climb the Grand Teton at age 70. I had not been climbing outdoors in about 20 years and I did not have much experience in mountaineering in my past. Peggy Flavin was assigned as my guide. She was just what I needed to make my dream possible.

Before the 4 day attempt, we met to go over my gear. I knew right away that I was in good hands because of her quiet confidence and obvious expertise. She was humorous too in a low key way.

At first, as we backpacked up the mountain trails, we chatted and got to know each other. However throughout the next day as we travelled increasingly technical terrain, I became impressed by her attention to detail in regards to my safety insuring I completed a timely ascent. At no time did she push me to do something that I was not capable of, but she kept me moving at the very best of my abilities, not by forceful urging, but by calm suggestion and modeling. The more difficult the climbing, the calmer she seemed and the more focused we became.

That little dynamo was more than capable of catching my slip on a rope, and at one time carrying both our heavy packs thru a rock jungle on the descent when my hips had given out. She managed a crowded chaotic scene at the rappelling station and gave me some of her high energy snack when I needed it.

She never gave me false encouragement by focusing on the summit when it was unsure but kept me focus on the next step in climbing in the moment.

I could not have achieved my dream without her guidance and skill. “
